Greeting co-workers in the morning. Each day brought new learning experiences. Nothing was repetitive. Very good workplace culture, more like family. The most enjoyable part of the job was the people you worked with. building lasting relationships with co-workers and management.

Decent place to work. They will work you extra if you let them. Company is pretty inefficient, and lots of wasted job roles and time. Pay is not very high, but strong benefits.

The only thing that was good about this job was the benefits. The job of a CSR rep at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is stressful. In training you're expected to pass three mock calls without actually listening to reps doing real time live calls. You read tons and tons of material with very little role play. (You're not going to retain that type of information. It is literally all medical jargon). During training we spent one whole hour watching a video about adherence and how you need to be perfect on your calls. I saw it as an hour video of basically being micro-managed. They pull 5 calls a month at the very least to monitor your job performance. There was very little encouragement or morale. The whole training seemed to hammer the notion that each call needed to be perfect. I made up my mind that the benefits were not worth the stress or hassle of the job.

Terrible working culture, micro management to the max and employees are not trusted to complete their jobs. Work computers are old and ancient technology running programs that barely work or run extremely slowly. Employees are not given the tools to succeed then are blamed when they make a mistake. Vaccine mandate put out many good employees and even those working totally remotely. Management and executives blame problems on other departments or people and never fix the issues at hand. Advice to management, listen to your people and actively seek out their feedback on process improvement. They work with and on issues everyday and know what needs to be fixed. Treat us part of the team and show us how much we are actually valued through paying us fair wages.

What was once a great place to work has become intolerable if you are a union employee! We are the only group unable to work from home the call volume is incontrollable. They can't get employees to stay. They say they care about the people but don't care about the people that work for them! They are paying the ceo and president more money and providing employees with horrible computer systems that don't work.

I enjoyed working here. The company is very organized and there was a lot of support and resources that ensured success. Health insurance was free, which is amazing.

Micromanagement... forced to take the covid vaccine they have lawyers if you dispute for religious or medical reasons. if you have a reaction to the vaccine that they demanded you take you have to use your own time or go unpaid if you get sick after the vaccine. The don't add or reinbursment toward your pension

Overall, I think BCBSM is a good place to work depending on what department you land in. Some departments are really toxic. That said, it can make advancing be difficult in some areas. For my department, it's ideal. People get along. We work well together and we get what we need to done. It has its moments, but every job does. Overall, I'm happy there. However, in my area of expertise there is very little room to advance in the company. Middle management seems like a nightmare, so if you don't want to become an expert in the company, then this might not be the place to climb the corporate ladder. They care more about building company knowledge than industry knowledge, which can be detrimental depending on your background. The company has a whole offers great benefits. Your cost share is low compared to most. PTO is generous. People stay here for decades based on the benefits alone, but they've been cutting back slowly but surely so if you started now I don't know if it'd be worth it to stay just for benefits because salary is not keeping up with inflation.
